Final Reflection

1. So we have this photo assignment that we have finished where we have to take a photo a day for twenty one days, things that we are grateful for. And before the project even started, I was thinking about what I should take pictures of, and thus I was thinking about things that I'm grateful for. In turn I thought about how there are people out there who believe (with good reason) that my generation, and often, young adults tend not to be very grateful for anything. And then how my photography teacher heard that studies have shown that people who are more grateful for things are more creative. And that made me think, I mean really think, if teens are so ungrateful, then how are so many of us so creative? And as for me, well, I find that I am grateful for more things in one day then breaths I probably take in one year. And I know that one can easily say that that isn't true, but those who know me, and I mean really know me, then they know it's true as well as I do. The pictures I took were not of a specific thing, but of a general idea or concept. I am grateful for things but I find that the more you focus on the THINGS you have in your life instead of the PEOPLE, the IDEAS, the BEAUTY, then you really aren't truly grateful for what you have.
2. Living the way I've lived, I find/found it easy to appreciate every moment of my life, good or bad. And in doing that, I'm grateful for a lot of things, things that most teens, or even people in general aren't usually thankful for, and I seriously pride myself in that. I think that anyone who wants to try this, should.

3. Through this project and based on most of what I have said with my photos if I was to make a similar project it wouldn't be what you were grateful for. I would want people to go out and try notice the things that they never usually do.

Day 20

Music

Music is a staple in any country, a way to tell stories, convey emotions, an escape from everyday life, and a reason to dance and enjoy yourself.

Day 19

Deep Sleep

There are two meanings behind this picture, both the important of sleep, and how much I love it. And the importance of one's dreams, dreams are the only place where there are no bounds, no limitations, and it lets your imagination wander.

Day 18

Photo Album

We all have childhood memories, but do you ever think about them? All the fun you had, the innocence in your very existance? Did you ever focus on the things that you actually remember, or the stories that were told about you? Because just the knowledge that you were there, you learned, and you're here today, is precious.

Day 17

Last Man Standing

Last Man Standing

Don't be afraid to be one of a kind. Be the one who grabs attention and paves a new path in life. If you are seen as different, then you're doing something right. Be different, be unique, be the one and only you.

Reflection 3

Sixteen days out of twenty and I could do a million more. I find it is easier to find ideas, not out of objects that I am thankful for, but ideas, feelings, experiences. Because if you can see the good in all of those things, you truly understand the need for creativity. It's easy to just snap a picture of an object and say that you are grateful that its in your life. But when you show that you are even grateful for the darker parts of life, grateful for the dark that helps you see the light, then this project becomes really easy.

Day 16

Shadows That Stretch

How often do you focus on the shadows around you? The shape, the size, how the fall? They can so easily make you see things differently.

Day 15

Holding Close

Love. It comes in all shapes, sizes, ages, and types. Love is valuable, the greatest version of curency. The one thing that humans were origionally put on this earth, to find that other person, their other half. The one thing that can make the rain end and the sun shine brighter.

Day 14

Hillcrest Sunset

Hillcrest Sunset

No matter where you look, despite the dark, a light is just around the next bend, over the next hill. And it will light your way. The moments before all the light is gone from the day, whne shadows are stretched long, and things are easily hidden, that last burst of light right as the sun is swallowed by the hills. Those are the moments you know: nothing lasts forever.

Day 13

Legacy

Everyone leaves tracks, footprints through others' lives. Creating a story of themselves as they go. Always leaving an impact, whether big or small. Remember that, cherish that, because while you're noticing the tracks others have left on your heart, you're leaving tracks of your own.

Day 12

Could Have Been Painted

As an artist myself, I see art in almost everything, and I am a firm believer that everything a person does is art in some way. You don't always have to be trying to make art, art just is, it just happens.

Reflection 2

Another week and five more posts. It has been interesting to see how my mind has found seemingly random things to be grateful for. I've gotten to the point where I merely let my camera choose what I photogragh. And it has proven to work out well. I choose to not Photoshop my photos, instead I post them how I take them, and it shows the true element of superiority. I refuse to use my so called creativity to stage a photo, I'd much rather just take what I see and turn it into a piece of art.

Day 11

Puppy Love

Love comes in many different shapes, sizes and forms, including the love your pets. Cherish any adoration you receive, and give out lots as well.

Day 10

Light Through the Dark

Some may say that every storm cloud has a silver lining, but in truth, I've found that a silver lining is a bit hard to find in most occasions. Instead, I believe that with every area of shadow, a ray of sun will always find a way through to you.

Day 9

Bug Perspective

Bug Perspective

One thing I have learned from my almost twenty years of life, is that you have to look at things differnently in order to truly appreciate them properly. The most common way people take a different perspective, without even noticing it, is when they cock their head to the side. I, however, like to take on different views of objects, such as these.

Day 8

Palm Tree Sunset

How often do people see the simple beauty of things. If you stop and just look around you, you can easily find millions of things that are beautiful. Focus on the beauty that is, and not the beauty that is made.

Day 7

Dance

Hobbies are imperative, a way for a person to express themselves, and something that they can do just for them, just for fun. Dance is something that everyone does, even if you think you aren't good, dancing around the house in your socks, in the car to the radio, or just because music is on. Dance is important.

Reflection

The purpose of this project was to find the creativity within ourselves. To use the things that we learned in a Photography class to express our gratefulness to the world. Through the first week, I have tried to show how I, personally, see things. And I believe that this will be the best way to portray my gratefulness.

Day 6

Gentle Rose

Who ever looks around and merely notices the simplicity of it all? Does anyone anymore? Every day you can see so much, enjoy the little things.

Day 5

Home Sweet Home

I may have to be a bit cliche when I say that: "Home is where the heart is", "There's no place like home" and of course "Home sweet home." Honestly, I think many people take a house for granted, despite the fact that you don't have to have a fantastic house to feel like you belong and are loved, but having a place you can call home with friends and family, seems pretty important to me.

Day 4

Books

Is it true that people doubt books? Books are powerful, books are important. Books teach you things about life, about how other people live, they teach you things about imagination, and creation, they let you live a life beside your own. And that, is something special.

Day 3

Flowing Water

Flowing Water

How could we live without water? To me, that seems like a redundant question. How would things grow? What would humans and animls drink? There are so many ways we all use water, for both survival and recreation. So notice it.

Day 2

Sunset Oak Tree

Go out, and do me a favor, and look at a tree, really any tree. Now think for a moment, what do all trees do for humanity. They provide shade, oxygen, a playground for children, a home for animals, wood for various uses and so many other things.

Day 1

Hazy Sunset
Hazy Sunset Silhouette

Who still takes notice of the sun day by day? I do, I know that with out the sun, our existance on earth would be dark, cold and dismal.
